Susanna died April 10, 1859 in Kane County, IL and is buried in Patrick Cemetery (abandoned). [Philip may have died in Fayette County, IA as I’ve found no further mention of him in the census records after he is enumerated there in 1870 living with his married daughter Abigail and her family in Smithfield Twp. .] [Note: There is another Parker family living in Kane County, IL in 1850 besides Philip and Susanna -- Isaac Parker and his wife Elizabeth were living in Campton, Kane County with their 2 sons, Henry, age 20 (b. NY), and ?Lerry?, age 11 (b. IL), but Betsy reported that her parents were both born in VT and though Isaac was born in VT, his wife, Elizabeth, was born in CT. Philip and Susanna were both born in VT. Furthermore, they were living right next door to Betsy and her family in 1850, whereas Isaac lived in a different township.]

She probably died in Fayette County, IA between 1880 and 1900. FamilySearch.com shows Abigail buried in Groat Arlington Cemetery, Fayette Co., IA. Date of birth shown in this record is about 1826, reflecting that given in the 1880 census.

2. ABIGAIL “ABIGAL”2 PARKER (PHILIP1 PARKER) was born about 1823 in NY. She married JOHN KAVENAUGH/CAVINAH/CAVANAUGH before 1850 [possibly in NY as that is where the oldest child was born.] John was born in December 1816 in Ireland [both his parents were foreign born per the 1870 census]. Abigail and John were living in Brush Creek, Fairfield Twp., Fayette County, IA in 1880 and John, a widower age 83, was living with his son Philip in Illyria Twp., Fayette Co., IA in 1900.

William RATFIELD was born December 24, 1819 in England [possibly Brainerd, Essex County] and died September 1, 1893 in Elgin, Kane County, IL. Betsy preceded William in death. She died March 28, 1890. They are both buried in Riley Cemetery, McHenry County, IL.

William died June 8, 1906 in Dickinson, Stark County, ND of pneumonia.

  • 8.iii. HARRIET “HATTIE” ANN RATFIELD was born in June of 1850 in IL.
  • 9.iv. THOMAS "TOM" HENRY RATFIELD was born on February 27, 1852 in IL. He died on June 13, 1923 in McHenry County, IL and lies buried in the Riley Center cemetery.
  • 10.v. ELIZABETH "ELIZA" “LIZZIE” RATFIELD was born in October of 1854 in IL and died February 28, 1918 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. Elizabeth is buried with her husband and two of her children in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Hillside, Cook County, IL.
  • 11.vi. CYRILLUS “SCY” RATFIELD was born on July 22, 1854 in Marengo, IL and died February 1, 1943 in Sycamore, DeKalb County, IL. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery.

  • ix. EDWARD RATFIELD was born between 1861 and 1862 in IL and is believed to have married LAURA WASHBURNE on September 29, 1886 in Boone County, IL (Vol. 1, license 2627). He was living in Washington in 1923.

Levi was born between 1825 and 1826 in Bohemia [per the 1850 census]. Rosina is believed to have died in Virgil Twp., Kane County, IL between 1852 when her son, Simeon, was born and 1855 when Levi was listed as a widower in the state census.

James was born in about 1831 in NH, the son of JAMES CHASE and ALMIRA W, his wife, both from NH. Lovina and James had relocated to Smithfield, Fayette County, IA by 1880.

JOHNSON about 1877 [probably in IL]. Carrie was born September 4, 1856 in Bergen, Norway, the daughter of CARL JOHNSON and his wife. Carrie emigrated in 1872. Carl died on June 14, 1970 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, MN at the age of 91 years 27 days.

[Thomas reported in the 1900 census that his father had been born in England, his mother in NY.] He died on June 13, 1923 in McHenry County, IL. Thomas married EMELINE/EMALINE ELIZABETH COLLINS on March 1, 1877 in Elgin, Kane County, IL. Emeline, a daughter of LEANDER COLLINS and JERUSHA O'CONNER, was born in March 1860 in IL and died on August 8, 1934 in McHenry County, IL. Both Thomas and Emeline are buried in Riley Center cemetery.

Jesse married ADA “MINNIE” McMILLAN on August 15, 1907 in IL. Minnie was born in about 1883 in IL and died about November 30, 1933. She was still a widow at age 37, and living in 1920 with her parents, EDWARD and MINNIE McMILLAN, in Chicago, Cook County, IL.
  • v. ASA ALLEN RATFIELD was born in 1889 and died of a gunshot wound on February 13, 1898 in McHenry County, IL. He is buried in Riley Center cemetery.

George had been residing in Chicago, Cook County, IL at the time of his death. Elizabeth and George are buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside, Cook County, IL. [Per 1930 census records, Carrie’s parents were born in Canada.] She was born January 12, 1866 in DeKalb County, IL and she died October 23, 1940.

Sadie was a daughter of JOHN A. GIBSON and his wife (MAIDEN NAME: MALMBERG). She was born August 6, 1883 in MN. Per the 1930 census, both her parents had been born in Sweden. Sadie died April 7, 1974 in Hennepin County, MN per the Social Security Death Index.

Rowena died in September of 1987 in Sedro Woolley, Skagit County, WA.

His memorial service was at the Gila Mountain United Methodist Church following cremation arrangements at Sunset Vista Crematory. His first wife died and he remarried on November 21, 1978 to Mrs. Gail I Billo who survives him.

Six children were born to HENRY HOFFMAN and ROSE GERLICK. One son and one daughter are deceased:

  • iv. CHARLOTTE BERTINA HOFFMAN was born on August 5, 1930 in Sycamore, DeKalb County, IL and died on January 4, 2005 at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL [She had resided in Paw Paw, IL]. Charlotte married DONALD ANDREW CHAPMAN January 10, 1948 [Per Charlotte's obit]. Donald died before January 2005.
